Yellow Crowned Night Heron

This Yellow Crowned Night Heron was photographed in Destin, FL on the south side of Destin Pass. The bird stands about two feet tall and feeds on crabs, fish, snails and bugs. The Yellow Crowned Night Heron is common in the southeast and the eastern seaboard.

Great picture! And actually, East Pass (Destin Pass) itself runs north/south, so it doesn’t have a south side, only an east or west side. Did you take this by the non-comm club (west side) or over by the restaurants/Norriego Point (east side)?
