Northeast Florida Shrimp Boats

Port Canaveral Shrimper
Shrimp Boats entering through inlet in St. Augustine.

I’ve always loved shrimp boats almost as much as I love the taste of wild native shrimp. When I see shrimp boats in the Gulf scooping up oil from BP’s Deepwater Horizon disaster, my heart sinks as the environmental and economic disaster unfolds and wonder how the oil spill will affect Florida beaches and coastal waters.

Tampa Skyline

When you think of Florida you don’t think of skylines, but Downtown Tampa has one of the nicest in the southeast with a view of Tampa Bay and the Hillsborough River. Visitors and locals alike have plenty of things to do in Tampa like playing the slots at the Hard Rock Casino, or hitting the nightclubs in Ybor City. Wildlife lovers can hit Busch Gardens or the Florida Aquarium at down at the Port of Tampa. The Trolley offers transpiration throughout Tampa so once you get here, you can forget about having to drive around the city.

Gulls Verses Crab

Don't Taste Me Bro!

We recently visited Sarasota as part of our latest additions for PlacesAroundFlorida.com. While visiting Longboat Key we photographed this standoff between two seagulls and a medium sized land crab.

I Can Has Cheezeburger?

We didn’t interfere and watched as the seagulls eventually figured the crab was more trouble than it was worth.

No Pose For U!

Since the crab was exposed and away from his hole, we took the opportunity as he posed for a shot before he covered himself, then remained motionless until we left.

Pier 60 in Clearwater Beach

Clearwater’s Pier 60 is a great place to spend the day fishing, bird watching or just hanging around. Of the many things to do in Clearwater Beach, Pier 60 features a daily sunset party with artist, street performers and live music.
