Alligator at Viera Wetlands

After all the rain and cold of last week the gators were out of water everywhere at Viera Wetlands. This gator was about seven feet long and was happy that the sun was out and the temperature had warmed to the mid 70s.

White Ibis Feeding at Viera Wetlands

The most common bird I encounter is the white ibis as I see them everywhere I go including my own yard. Watching white ibis feed and interact is fascinating for reasons I can’t easily explain. They get all possessive and show off when they get a meal, even though their behavior causes others to try to take it away. Their snowy white appearance, redish pink faces and steely blue eyes make them one of my favorite subjects.
